Industrials

When talking about industrials in the traditional sense I turn away more than I perform. Why? Because I’m looking for very specific anatomy. When doing an anatomy assessment I am looking at how pronounced both sides of the helix are along with the central ridge. If either side of the helix is shallow or if that ridge is even just a little bit too tall then unfortunately you do not have the anatomy. However, you may be a candidate for something a bit more custom!
There are a number of reasons why an industrial may fail. Anatomy, the angles are off (even when it’s just slightly), aftercare, jewellery, or the use of some everyday items. Industrials are super fragile and require a lot of extra care, even when performed perfectly. They can take well over a year to heal and this extra care must be taken the entire time. You will need to avoid anything that may put pressure on the piercing such as sleeping on it, helmets, headphones, and hats that cover the top of your ears. You will also need to avoid anything that may pull your piercing such as pulling a t-shirt over your head. On top of all of that, cleaning will be more difficult than some other piercings, getting in behind that bar to clean and dry everything properly can be tricky.
Healing an industrial can be A LOT, keeping in touch with your piercer and having regular check ups can help to make things go a bit smoother!
