What is Anodizing?

Anodizing changes the colour of the oxide layer on the surface of the jewellery by means of electrolysis. This means that you can have safe and colourful jewellery without the use of paints and coatings!

Anodization has many uses and can be performed on many metals, in the piercing world it is used on Titanium and Niobium. These metals are strong and durable enough to withstand the process without the surface becoming damaged, meaning their quality will not deteriorate and they will remain biocompatible.

Although the colour cannot flake or peel off the jewelry, it can fade over time to expose the original colour of the anodized material. Avoiding chemicals near your anodized jewellery can help to prolong the colour. Protect your jewellery when using products such as hair dyes and cleansers.

I offer anodizing for all Titanium and Niobium jewellery in studio. If you are interested in colourful jewellery, or would like to change a plain piece to a golden or rose golden colour, it can be done on the stop during your appointment.
